Since I'm sure somebody will, at some time, bother me about this, I'm posting it NOW so I don't have to constantly explain and re-explain.
----
Lex and Meryck O'Vale were born into a rather poor family in Station Square. Both of them didn't start school until late, and they often had ratty, third-or-fourthhand supplies. Eventually, the siblings were moved to an orphanage when their poor, loving parents were deemed incapable of properly raising them. Debatably, the orphanage was worse, as at least the parents were able to give the young ferrets love. Still, the orphanage had better supplies for education and easier access to neccessities, allowing the rather bright and currious ferrets to advance in their studies.
That is, until Lex's pyrokinetic abilities manifested in the form of setting a classroom on fire.
Although the ferret himself was quite currious about his abilities and promptly took it upon himself to refine them, and the young Meryck thought it was kind of cool, the rest of the orphanage was utterly agast with horror and began to ostrasize the boy. Shortly their after, Meryck's body had built up enough electricity that it, too, began to manifest- this made it a bit of a problem for ther to take a shower. She was promptly ostrasized as well.
It is here that the siblings personalities split the paths they chose. In the face of such hatred and prejudice, Meryck decided that the world and life were mostly just a huge joke, and decided that she wouldn't let herself be bothered by the silly people of the world. Lex, however, began to slowly loathe the people of Mobius. As his powers grew, so did his hatred, until he finally couldn't stand it- he burned down the orphanage and as many people as he could with it before vanishing into the Subway to claim it as his home. He was thirteen, and Meryck was almost eleven.
This was the first time Meryck had ever seen such devestation. It was also the first time she found something that she not only didn't take as a joke, but took as a horrible offense no one had the right to do. Meryck decided then and there that she would never willingly let something like that happen again, and proptly helped build and- for a time- power another orphanage.
Meryck took to the road at the age of thirteen, always carrying a thick rubber sheet in her pocket- for the purpose of putting up when she took a bath-, a few sticky hooks to put up said sheet, and a surprisingly largewad of cash for a young wanderer. No one quite knows how she keeps such a steady flow of cash, but it has been noted that she somehow knows the number of G.U.N.'s Tracker Divison- hinting that she might be a Tracker herself.
