OKAY, so, I can see we're already having problems, so I thought I'd clarify a few things about post order and frequency and such.
POST ORDER
Post order is necessary to keep things from getting too out of hand, and to let other people keep up with what is happening in the RP--basically, it stops two people from taking over and leaving everyone else in the dust, and it helps cut down on a lot of the confusion and general, "We were talking about tea. I didn't get on for a day and a half and now everyone's fighting aliens--WTH?"
Usually, post order is implemented as such:
A posts, then B posts, then A posts again.
It's a pattern--that way, if C joins them, it's easy to figure out who goes next. For example, after C joins, A would post again, then B, then C, so the new order would be A, B, C, A, B, C...
HOWEVER, as the majority of the members on this site are incredibly impatient writer types exploding with wit and plot ideas, traditional post order would be too rigid to uphold. Therefore, I'd like the following to apply: The person who first created the thread is the "leader". Everyone who posts after are "secondaries". After the leader posts, the secondaries post. Order does not matter, as long as EVERYONE posts no more than twice before the leader's third post (because the leader gets to post twice as well).
Considering I confuse myself on a regular basis, here's an example, using our lovely staff:
Meryck posts and becomes the leader.
Elf, Hallow, and Glyph are secondaries.
Meryck posts.
Glyph posts.
Elf posts.
Meryck posts her second time.
Hallow posts.
Glyph posts.
Meryck posts her third time.
See? Everyone has posted at least once, which is the main thing I'm concerned about. It's not fair to other members if people get carried away and leave them behind, and it's not just the Staff's job to keep track of it. It's up to ALL participants in a thread to make sure that things stay fair and smooth. If you take nothing else from this random babble, please, PLEASE remember that every participant should be allowed to post AT LEAST ONCE.
Which, of course, brings me to my next point:
ACTIVITY
We all have lives beyond TRZ--we can't all stay glued to the computer 24/7, no matter how much we might like to. It's just not possible. We all understand that things might get a little hectic in The Real World, and that someone might miss a day or so of posting. That's perfectly fine. However, if you plan on being away for a week or more, LET US KNOW IN ADVANCE. The "Say Goodbye" sub-board was created specifically so that you can let us know that you're going to poof for a while and will need an explanation of plot events when you return. It give the people you are RPing with the an "Okay" to continue posting without you, so the story can continue and won't stagnate and die. It also stops a heck of a lot of complaining and Cbox spam.
As a further failsafe for this, if no one has posted in a thread for THREE DAYS without anyone letting anyone else know in advance that they're going to be gone, then the next person (people) in line have the go-ahead to continue the thread without them. It is not the end of the world, I promise, and we'll be more than willing to catch anyone up when they return from that "surprise five-day camping trip without Internet access".
So, to sum it up for those of you who, like me, sometimes space during long rambles:
1. Keep it fair--post in SOME semblance of order.
2. Make sure everyone gets to post AT LEAST ONCE before moving on!
3. Stay active.
4. Notify us if you're going to be gone via the "Say Goodbye" sub-board. (Don't forget to let us know when you're back so we can glomp you!)
5. If no one posts in a thread for at least THREE DAYS, the rest of the RPers have the go-ahead to move on.
----------
If there's anything any of the Staff wants to change, add, take away, or totally twist, feel free. I just wanted to address this before it became a big issue later. :3
